Mehmet Gün is ranked among the top 300 strategists worldwide in his sector. He is the founder of Gün + Partners Law Firm, one of the leading international law firms in Türkiye, as also recognised by Legal500, Chambers and Partners and Euromoney, practicing in the areas of commercial, corporate and intellectual property law.

During his 42 years of practice, he has gained extensive knowledge and expertise in international legal and commercial relations and is among the pioneers in the development, regulation, promotion and effective enforcement of modern Turkish IP law. In addition he has provided guidance to various sectoral NGO’s and was consulted in parliamentary debates regarding the most recent Turkish Industrial Property Code.

He considers himself as a litigator and dispute mediator and has acted as lead and co-counsel in numerous local and international litigation, arbitration and mediation cases. He currently focuses his efforts on complex cross-border litigation, commercial disputes and acts as a strategic advisor to clients and the large team of lawyers within the firm.

Mehmet Gün sees it as his responsibility to give back to the nation that has provided him with so much opportunity. He has written many books and articles to share his experiences and recommendations with a view to contributing to the construction of a Turkish legal system of international standards. He relentlessly emphasises the rule of law as being one of the fundamental conditions needed for sustainable economic development.

Mr Gün is the author of books titled “From the Steppes to Becoming a Global Lawyer” and “Turkey’s Middle Democracy Problems and Solutions: Judiciary, Accountability, Justice in Representation”. Having devoted the last decade to work for the betterment of the Turkish judicial system and provision of quality services, Mr Gün founded the “Better Justice Association” in 2015, which has now become one of Tükiye’s most respected think tanks. The Association, which is politically neutral, offers solutions and recommendations to ensure higher quality service provision of services by the Turkish Judicial System with its publication “Turkish Judicial Reform, A to Z”.

Mehmet Gün takes active in many civil society organisations. He is the founder and chairman of the politically neutral Better Justice Association. He is the founder and chairman of the high advisory board of the Istanbul Arbitration Association (ISTA), vice president and chairman of the structural reforms commission of the Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation (TÜRKONFED), and a member of the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD).
